Falling in Love with an Angel
She ran as fast as she could to get away, to get away from everything.
Turning the corner she jumped over the fence and through the field and past the tall oak trees. Looking around, she turned to the left and pushed a bush out of the way and walked through. There was a small clearing. A small stream lay in the centre, grass and trees surrounding the area.
Sighing, she sat down next to the stream and looked into it. Then, she threw a stone at the reflection and flopped onto the grass.
“Penny for your thoughts ?”, a voice, said from behind.
She jumped up, turned around and leaned on her hands. There he stood.
A black sweater, denim jeans and hands stuffed into his pockets. She smiled and tried hard not to blush. The sun shone on him at just the right angle making it seem as if he had just come from heaven.
“Sure.” She didn’t want anything and she didn’t exactly want to share it with him either. “How…do you… know about this place? It’s so well hidden.”
He chuckled. “Actually, I come here every so often to clear my mind. It’s a beautiful place.”
She sighed and fell back on the grass, the corner of her eye watching him walk over to sit down next to her.
She knew he was waiting for her to start talking. She couldn’t.
She paused to look at herself in the stream and splashed some water upon her face.
It felt so cool and refreshing.
Looking over at him, she could see he was looking hard at the stream, as if concentrating on the tiny rapids that spun around the water tossing leaves aside allowing nothing to be safe. She saw him sigh and shake his head breaking away from his concentration to look up at her.
“Why didn’t you tell anyone?” he asked, searching her eyes as if he would find the answers inside.
She turned away and looked back at the stream pulling her knees to the chin and resting her arms so as to rest on them and sighed again. “I was too scared. Scared of what he would do to me.”
She shut her eyes tight and felt him move closer. He was now right beside. She could hear him breathing, feel it on her neck. She shivered and tried to inch away from him. But then, she opened her eyes and looked at him. Looking right into his eyes, she could almost read his mind, his soul. She turned away again.
Then his hand pushed a sleeve up. She flinched away.
“Hey...don’t worry. I just want to see something.”
She let him continue to gently push it up to reveal a big bruise.
He let his fingers trail long it and she shut her eyes again.
“Why would someone do this kind of thing to anyone?” he said, almost in a whisper.
“I always thought it was kind of my fault that he did this to me.”
Loosing sense of control, she had started to blush bright red. It could almost match the red t-shirt she was wearing.
There was a long pause as they continued to look at each other. Then, slowly he leaned down to kiss her. She took in everything about him, his smell…his touch. Butterflies erupted. Calming herself, she then slowly pulled away and looked at him. Her lips tingled from where his once had been.
“I’ve wanted to do that for so long”, he said.
“Me to.”
He gave her a small smile and a quick kiss before standing up and brushing himself off.
She remained sitting because she knew her legs wouldn’t work just yet.
He stuffed his hands back in his pockets and withdrew a penny and tossed it to her.
She caught it and looked at it before looking back at him.
“I’ll see you soon !”, he said and with that he left.
She waited for a few minutes until she knew he was completely gone.
He kissed me! He kissed me! she squealed to herself.
Then, she opened her hand to reveal the penny he had tossed her.
She giggled to herself gently and placed it in her pocket.
This is one penny that’s never paying for anything.
